Quality Control and Certification

gebana Afrique and its partners produce in accordance with gebana ag's fair trade regulations. Long-term cooperation even in difficult times, prefinancing and fair trade premiums are crucial to improving quality of life. In order to sell products on the mass market with the Max Havelaar/Transfair label, the cultivation of mango and cashew has had to be additionally FLO certified.

Over the last few years gebana ag, in conjunction with  farmers, has also implemented and simplified the organic certification of the various areas under cultivation. An HACCP system was developed for the product 'dried mango' to achieve quality improvement as this allows seamless quality control. Cool storage facilities are an important element here.

Drying fruit in the existing gas dryers is both expensive and not the best possible solution with regard to the environment. We are currently developing a solar drying system in partnership with Ökozentrum Langenbruck and myclimate

In the last few years gebana Afrique has consistently increased its export volume; current (2006) exports of organic&fair products amount to over 200 tons.
