WALLS AGAINST WALLS

Together with world-renowned artists and your help, we're building a factory in Burkina Faso that will create 1000 new jobs as well as a platform for local art.

2147

Burkina Faso is one of the poorest countries in the world. The political situation is unstable, terrorists and criminals are harassing the population, companies are not investing, thus perpetuating a vicious cycle. To turn the tide, we're building walls of hope: a new, larger processing factory for mangoes and cashew nuts, which will generate both income and opportunities. Its walls will deliver the messages of Burkinabe artists to the world.

What can I do?

We are building a new factory in Burkina Faso!

What is it about?

A factory creates opportunities

We have been working locally in Burkina Faso for 20 years. Today, we collaborate with 2,800 family farmers and employ 670 people. Every year, they process 660 tons of organic mangoes and 300 tons of organic cashews. However, the capacity of our factory in Bobo-Dioulasso is reaching its limits as the demand for our products continues to grow. A bigger factory with a greater production capacity is the next logical step. It is, however, a very risky one.

A larger factory is an efficient way of affecting positive change in Burkina Faso: job and income security for family farmers give people opportunities - and they urgently need them!

Art connects people

Many world-renowned artists support Walls Against Walls! They have each offered us an artwork - some were created especially for our project - and we may pass on reproductions to our supporters. Upon making a contribution of 70 euros, you may select a limited reproduction from the artworks by various international artists, as a wonderful and unique token of our gratitude. We will send it to you once the crowdfunding has ended.

In addition, Burkinabe artists will design the walls around the new factory. This gives the local art community a platform and the factory walls will spread their messages to the world.

How will the new factory be financed?

The risk of investing in Burkina Faso has become even greater in recent years. That's why hardly anyone does it and why we need allies: people, but also institutions, that want to make this factory a reality.

Essentially, we require more venture capital for construction than what we have ourselves. That's why we're aiming to raise one million euros through this crowdfunding.

We are in talks with sustainability funds for long-term financing of the factory. The offer is: if we have the venture capital, they will double every euro with a long-term loan. So the more money we collect here, the more we can invest!

If the factory isn't built, you will get your money back.

When does it start?

In the course of 2022, we worked out detailed construction plans with a local planning and architecture firm and negotiated with the manufacturers of the processing machines. In addition, important approvals have been obtained from local authorities, such as the environmental and social impact assessment. We expect to complete the detailed planning phase at the end of 2022 so we can start construction in early 2023.
