Banana Recipes
A few weeks ago we already reported here on the blog how to properly ripen bananas at home. But even in their green state, the fruits can be wonderfully used cooked, baked, or fried. In texture they resemble plantains or potatoes.
Recipes from green bananas
When the box with 18 kilograms of green bananas arrives at your home, you don't necessarily have to patiently wait for them to ripen – you can use the unripe fruits for cooking right away!
Preparing green bananas is really simple. However, don't try to peel them like ripe, yellow fruits. The peel is much easier to remove if you soak the bananas in water for a while. Cut off the ends and slit them lengthwise once. After about 20 to 30 minutes in cold water, you can better slide your fingers between the peel and the fruit and thus easily remove it. Then place the peeled bananas back into fresh, cold water until ready to use, otherwise they will quickly turn brown.
Tip: To prevent stubborn stains when handling the fruits, it is advisable to coat your hands with oil or wear gloves.

Our colleague Carolin runs her blog CaroKocht on the side. She coarsely grated the green bananas and then prepared a breakfast porridge from them:
