Short introduction: Mirjam Traoré, Burkina Faso
gebana: Mirjam, how does your start feel at a company in such a difficult situation?
Mirjam Traoré: To be honest, it doesn’t feel like a "difficult situation" at all. Everyone here is very motivated and positive. I am aware of the challenge, but I try to tackle my tasks with joy.
gebana: After just a few weeks, what do you see now as the biggest challenge in your area?
Mirjam Traoré: At the moment I see certification and traceability as the biggest challenge; it is a very time-consuming process that never really ends but can always be improved.
gebana: What is your motivation to work for gebana in Burkina Faso?
Mirjam Traoré: I am convinced that countries like Burkina Faso need exactly companies like gebana; companies that have high social and environmental standards, invest in the country, create jobs and operate economically.
Mirjam Traoré has been with gebana Afrique since December 1 and is responsible there for the agriculture and certifications department. The trained agricultural engineer has been living with her husband in Burkina Faso for a year and a half, where she previously worked for a local NGO in the field of ecological agriculture.
