Orange Cake with Orange Curd

Haven't you completely eaten some of the delicious oranges yet? Home cook Silvio Iacconi once again delights us with a great dessert idea! Note: This recipe is also suitable for other citrus fruits.

Ingredients

Ingredients for 4 portions

Orange Cake

3 Oranges (zest)

2 Eggs

130 g Sugar

140 g Butter

130 g Wheat flour

1/2 tsp Baking powder

Salt

Orange Curd (2 jam jars)

2 Oranges (zest and juice)

3 Eggs

100 g Butter

200 g Sugar

Preparation

Orange Cake

Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan).

Melt the butter in a pan over low heat. Put eggs and sugar in a mixing bowl and whisk until foamy, then add the melted butter.

In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, orange zest, and two pinches of salt well. Then combine everything thoroughly.

Bake in a greased pan for about 30 minutes and let cool.

Orange Curd

Zest and juice both oranges. Warm the orange juice and zest together with butter and sugar in a pan and mix well.

Beat the eggs and add them to the pot with the remaining ingredients.

Stir well with a whisk over medium heat until the curd thickens (at 80–85°C).

Immediately fill the curd into the jam jars and chill.

Garnish: In addition to the orange curd, sour cream, chocolate shavings, and red currants also go well with the orange cake.
