My task is to form partnerships between the farmers and gebana. At the moment it is not always a partnership. I am also the bridge between the individual gebana teams in West Africa and from south to north. gebana AG has already invested a lot in Burkina Faso, an "old" gebana. We want to pass on these investments as knowledge transfer to the other, younger gebanas, share experiences and thus use synergies. We also plan to visit each other.
My position allows me to work freely and independently. I can plan and decide a lot myself. I enjoy that very much.
Do you have a family? How do you combine work life and your family, especially regarding the many travels?
I am the mother of two teenagers. I always wanted both, to have a family and to work. It requires good partners to make that possible. My husband and my mother look after the children when I am traveling. It requires a lot of communication. My family always knows where I am, what I am doing, when I will come home. That is important.
What is the greatest challenge in your work?
English! Everyone speaks English! I need to know it better. Then I can work in different countries and build more contacts. Even in West Africa it is important to speak English; French is not enough depending on a country's historical background. But I also want to be able to talk with Europeans or Chinese.
What is your first impression of gebana?
There are many women who work for gebana. In the south many women are employed; that is extraordinary and motivating. In Africa women mostly stay at home and do not practice a profession. It is a struggle to work outside the home; men do not want that.
Is there something you want to say to our customers in Switzerland, Germany and Austria?
Customers ensure that when they buy gebana products they improve the lives of an entire community, not just that of an individual person, but the lives of all employees of a processing facility or of a farming village!
