They were unsupervised and at times had to look after their younger siblings themselves. That had to change!
So that the women can work despite their childcare duties, gebana has now decided to set up a nursery. Two trained caregivers were hired for this purpose, who supervise and occupy the children outside under a roof and under the trees. Thanks to donations from the “Mango Crates for Burkina Faso” campaign, they now even have toys available.
To ensure commitment and predictability, a small fee for the care was agreed with the women. This covers part of the caregivers' wage costs. However, other payment options are still under consideration and will be discussed together with all parties involved.
