Theater in the name of gebana
Herman Ki is 32 years old and has worked at gebana since 2015 as an agent for internal control. That means he regularly visits the farming families to collect information about their production. This is the basis for certification and to guarantee the traceability of the products. But for two months each year he visits the villages on a different mission: he performs in theatre.
«Wow, I love acting in theatre! In December and January, when there are no harvests, I visit the villages with my small theatre troupe. We want to convey to the farmers that they are entrepreneurs, and that with the right management of their land they can achieve anything. In my view this is the most important thing: that farmers see themselves as entrepreneurs and stop asking us for money for purchases. We also want to build trust in gebana. We develop the plays together as a group.
Last season I played the farmer who does not work with gebana. According to my role as head of the family I wear a boubou (long dress) like the elders wear, and I also walk around with an old radio. In the end I am dejected and I do not feel well. gebana is a company that acts out of conviction, not purely for profit. I like that and that is why it gives me great pleasure, through my theatre, to convince the farmers of the idea of gebana!»
