Mandarins
Organic
Italy
Available for pre-order from: Winter
Fresh mandarins from the Calabria region in southern Italy. The local GOEL cooperative supplies us with the fruit from four family farmers who produce on plots of around 6 to 7 hectares. The Tardivo di Ciaculli variety is characterised by its thin skin and sweet flavour.
Storage & shelf life
In a cool place, mandarins will keep for up to 20 days. If you store the fruit on the balcony or terrace, protect them from frost with a blanket or place them in a styrofoam box. Check your mandarins for bruises and minor damages upon reception and consume these fruits first. If you discover mould, remove the affected fruit to prevent it from spreading.
CHRISTOS SALTOS
FARMER FROM MASTRO, GREECE
Nature gives me a feeling of freedom.
Traoré Ouo lives with her husband and four children in the village of Toussiana. "In addition to mangos and cashew nuts, we grow maize and sell it on the local market. It's especially important for me to be able to send my children to school," says the farmer. "Three of my children are still in school and my eldest son already has a job, so they can't help us with the work in the fields. That's why everyone in the neighbourhood supports each other."
