Blood oranges Tarocco
Organic
Italy
Arrival of delivery: February
Order until: 10.01.2027
Fresh organic Tarocco blood oranges from 11 family farmers in Calabria. These oranges are typically slightly more tart than blond oranges and are ideal for juicing as well as for eating straight away. Compared to the Moro variety, they are slightly sweeter, less tart and have no bitter aftertaste.
Whether the fruit is blood-red or orange on the inside is determined by nature. Blood oranges only acquire the colour that gives them their name if they have been exposed to low temperatures whilst growing.
We source the fruit through the Goel Bio cooperative. The members of this cooperative farm land that was formerly under the control of the ‘Ndrangheta mafia organisation, where they grow organic citrus fruits and other foodstuffs. The cooperative is committed to legality and fair working conditions and supports members who are threatened because of their work through an internal solidarity fund.
