Swiss chocolate – made in Togo
We want to produce exceptional chocolate right where its most important ingredient, cocoa, grows. Join us on our journey towards our chocolate, 100 % made in Togo!
Why produce chocolate directly in Togo?
Swiss chocolate is renowned worldwide for its quality. However, its production has little to do with Alpine air and mountain scenery, but rather with expertise and the right machinery. We’re convinced that what the big players in Switzerland do, we can achieve too as a smaller player – right where the cocoa grows. We’re setting up our own chocolate factory in Lomé, Togo!
Become a chocolate investor
For our project, we need not only courage but also the necessary funds. Thanks to numerous supporters, we’ve already raised over 500,000 Swiss francs in start-up capital and begun setting up production. So far, we haven’t been able to find any major clients from the chocolate industry – which is why we’ve increased our target amount. We’re getting stuck in and making our vision a reality.
By contributing to our project, you too can become a chocolate investor.

Current challenges
«The past season was the worst it’s been in decades. There’s a great deal of turmoil in the cocoa market.»
— Oskar Jönsson, project manager at gebana
The path to our own chocolate production hasn’t been straightforward. Following a very successful 2025 financial year for gebana Togo, the 2025/26 cocoa season threw a spanner in the works. Heavy rainfall meant that part of the harvest became mouldy or contaminated. At the same time, the price of cocoa has plummeted by up to 70 per cent compared with the previous year. Numerous buyers have backed out of agreements already made. Despite these challenges and constant fluctuations in the cocoa market we are convinced that our project will pay off. Only by taking risks can we make a lasting difference!
Let’s get started!

Sep 2026Our chocolatiers visit Fairafric
In mid-September, Edith Kpini-Amegan and Charles Djivins Makosso from gebana Togo visited Fairafric in Amanase, Ghana. The German-Ghanaian company already produces its bars entirely on site, showing where the journey could lead for our own project. Our chocolatiers were able to pick up valuable know-how for our own production.

Jul 2026Gold medal for our Togo chocolate
Our 80 per cent cocoa bar has won a gold medal for its flavour. It is one of 12 bars to have been awarded a prize at the Concours international des chocolats élaborés à l’origine. It has come out on top against around 150 competitors. The prize is awarded by the French organisation AVPA, which is committed to promoting agricultural products. We are delighted that our Togo chocolate is already winning people over with its flavour!

Mar 2026We’ve done it!
Over 500,000 Swiss francs from more than 1,800 supporters: we are absolutely delighted that so many people believe in our project and want to transform the cocoa and chocolate trade. Our start-up capital for the project is secured!
With part of this money, we can now begin expanding our current small-scale production at the gebana Togo office. Over the coming months, we will purchase additional machinery and install an emergency power generator to ensure the equipment can run reliably round the clock. We’re also already working on new varieties and product innovations.
We also want to attract major clients from the chocolate industry, which we haven’t managed to do yet. So we’re carrying on – and raising our target amount to 750,000 Swiss francs. We’ll keep you updated!

Jan 2026300,000 CHF for chocolate from Togo!
Over 1,000 people believe that we can produce chocolate in Togo that’s every bit as good as Swiss chocolate. We’ve now raised over 300,000 Swiss francs through our crowdfunding campaign – another milestone has been reached, and before the end of the year too!

Dec 2025We’ve hit the first 100,000 CHF!
In November 2025, we launched our crowdfunding campaign for our own chocolate factory in Togo – and just two weeks later, we’d already broken the 100,000 Swiss franc mark!
