Bukhara raisins
Organic
Uzbekistan
Our Bukhara raisins are a speciality from Uzbekistan. They are grown exclusively in the Samarkand and Kitab regions, organically cultivated by family farmers on small plots averaging 0.5 hectares.
The families harvest the organic raisins by hand and dry them slowly in the shade – other types of raisins are usually sun-dried. Gentle drying in the shade ensures that the natural aroma of Bukhara raisins is preserved and the fructose does not caramelise. In addition to their intense flavour, this has the advantage that the raisins do not become sticky, so there is no need to coat them in oil.
Bukhara raisins taste fruity and sweet, yet have a delicate, harmoniously balanced acidity. They are ideal for muesli, as a snack on their own, and for baking and cooking.
