"I live in the western part of Georgia, in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. Legend has it that this is the motherland of hazelnut cultivation. Most people in my village are involved in hazelnut production, my family included. We earn most of our income from hazelnut cultivation. My husband also makes worm compost, which provides our second source of income. He's an expert in soil fertility and tries to share his knowledge with the village as well. I think the goal of agriculture in the 21st century isn't to grow crops, but rather to maintain and perfect farming methods."
