Cranberries
Organic
Lettland
These dried cranberries come from a cooperative whose members use dry harvesting methods. This means that instead of flooding their fields with water, they harvest the berries by hand.
After harvesting, the cranberries are sweetened with sugar for around five days, otherwise they would be inedible. The processing plant in Krustiņi extracts the sugar syrup from the berries and then gently dries them.
The dried cranberries from Latvia are light red in colour and taste sweet with a strong acidity and a slightly bitter aftertaste. They are ideal on their own as a snack, as an ingredient in muesli or porridge, and for baking and cooking.
