Zaatar Cashews
Burkina Faso
Roasted cashews seasoned with zaatar. Zaatar comes from Palestine and consists of wild thyme, sumac, roasted sesame, cumin and salt.
Store nuts and seeds in a cool, dark place in a tightly closed container. Make sure that the container is as airtight as possible so that moisture is kept away from the nuts. You can also freeze nuts and seeds, which will extend their shelf life by several months.
- Grown by 3031 family farmers on an average of 5.4 ha in the Hauts-Bassins, Sud-Ouest, Cascades and Centre-Ouest Regions in Burkina Faso
- Organic, non-irrigated, manually harvested and sorted, never repackaged, all processing done locally, transport: straight from the farm to Bobo-Dioulasso by lorry, by lorry to Abidjan, by ship to Rotterdam, 100% of employees working in processing have an employment contract, wages on par with minimum wage or better

Wenn ich mehr Land hätte, würde ich Bienen züchten.
"Wenn ich meinen Beruf wechseln müsste, würde ich Geflügelzüchterin werden", sagt Coulibaly Salamata Elisabeth. "Der Anbau von Cashew-Nüssen hat aber eine vielversprechende Zukunft.” Der Bäuerin macht es Spass, ihre Bäume zu pflegen und Felder zu pflügen, wie sie sagt. “Ich hätte allerdings gerne Hilfe, um meine Flächen mit möglichst vielen Kulturen anzureichern. Dann würde ich zum Beispiel Mangobäume pflanzen und meine Cashew-Produktion vergrössern. Denn ich habe acht Kinder und das sind viele Mäuler, die gefüttert werden wollen."
