Cashew Slivers
Burkina Faso
Organic
When cracking and peeling cashews, the individual nuts often break. These cashew slivers are even smaller than our broken cashews. And though this doesn't impact their taste, it does impact their value. Use these little cashew slivers in your cooking or sprinkle them over your salad.
Store nuts and seeds in a cool, dark place in a tightly closed container. Make sure that the container is as airtight as possible so that moisture is kept away from the nuts. You can also freeze nuts and seeds, which will extend their shelf life by several months.

COULIBALY SEYDOU
FARMER FROM TAGA, BURKINA FASO
Oxen would make my work in the fields easier.
Coulibaly Seydou grows cashews and maize on onehectare of land. The farmer also breeds chickens. "I want to start breeding other animals to increase my sources of income," he says. "For example, oxen would be very useful for working in the fields." Coulibaly can't always afford to hire workers to help him. "We can only pay farm workers if the previous year's harvest was profitable. Otherwise, my family helps me."
