I grow cashews for myself as well as for my buyers.
Yabile Jeanne Ouattara grows cashews on four hectares of land. When the harvest season begins, she can count on the help of her family - her husband and four children. She also hires extra harvest workers for the season. "Farming is my passion," says Jeanne. "I could never do any other job than farming. I love tending the fields." But she also thinks there's room for improvement. "I'd like to optimise my cashew trees so that we can harvest more."
Around 60 employees in Togo and Burkina Faso pay regular visits to the family farmers who supply us with their mangos, cashews, cocoa or soy. Our business model wouldn't work without these field agents. We spoke to two of them about their day-to-day work and the challenges they encounter.
